Animal Care Veterinary Hospitals’s staff is filled with highly trained and experienced animal lovers who care deeply about their jobs. Everyone makes it a goal to learn everything they can about the field they love in order to give our patients the highest level of care.
Our team is also kind. The members treat each patient, whether healthy or sick, with plenty of love and attention. They educate owners on the importance of preventative care to keep their pets healthy, while doing everything they can to help when their pets are not feeling well.

Arthur S. McMillan, Jr., DVM/Owner
Dr. McMillan is a graduate of The Ohio State University. He holds a Doctorate degree in Veterinary Medicine, as well as a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in Animal Science. Dr. McMillan practiced veterinary medicine in Washington, NC before moving back to his family farm in Pitt County and opening Animal Care Veterinary Hospital in 1993.
Christian Proietto, DVM
Dr. Christian Proietto graduated with a B.S degree in animal science from the University of Connecticut. He completed his veterinary studies at Iowa State University College of Veterinary Medicine in May 2012. His veterinary interest include surgery and internal medicine. He is an avid musician, playing 5 instruments, with primary interest in the guitar.
Lu Olson, DVM
Dr. Olson (formerly known as Dr. Macnider) is a graduate from the University of Illinois College of Veterinary Medicine. She is interested in working with dogs, cats, and exotic animals. When she is not spending time with her family and pets, she enjoys traveling, playing volleyball, and relaxing with a good book.
Jenny Larson, DVM
Dr. Jenny Larson started her veterinary school journey at S. George’s University on the Caribbean island of Grenada. She then transferred to Kansas State University College of Veterinary Medicine where she received her veterinary degree in 2012. She practiced veterinary medicine in the Chicago area, where she grew up, before moving to Greenville to join the Animal Care family. Her professional interests include soft tissue surgery, emergency medicine, geriatric care and exotics. Dr. Larson and her husband, Kevin, currently have one toddler son and have another baby on the way. During her free time she enjoys spending time at the aquarium and beach with her family, visiting her parents in Wilmington, cheering for the Panthers and ECU Pirates (and of course always da Bears and da Blackhawks!).
She is enjoying living in Greenville and she is always passionate about helping you with your pet’s healthcare needs!
Shane Proietto, DVM
Dr. Shane Proietto obtained a Bachelor’s degree in Animal Science at University of Connecticut. He graduated from Iowa State University College of Veterinary Medicine then joined the Animal Care team. His veterinary interests include soft-tissue surgery, internal medicine, and ophthalmology. He looks forward to serving the patients and clients of Animal Care!
Brianna Whiting, DVM
Dr. Brianna Whiting, an Iowa native, graduated with her bachelor’s degree in Biology from the University of Northern Iowa. She received her doctorate degree from Iowa State University College of Veterinary Medicine in May of 2017. Her professional interests include soft tissue surgery, emergency medicine and exotic animal medicine. Outside of the practice, she enjoys woodworking, spending time at the beach and exploring North Carolina with Shane and their dog, Olive Oyl.
Kate Janczak, DVM
Dr.Kate Janczak joined Animal Care Veterinary Hospital team in February of 2018 after practicing for the past 5 years in Seattle, Washington. A native of the Chicago area, Dr. Janczak attended Hope College in Holland, Michigan, where she earned her bachelors degrees in both Biology and Spanish. She attended the University Of Illinois College Of Veterinary Medicine and graduated in 2012. After graduation, she completed a rotating internship in small animal medicine and surgery in Mesa, Arizona. Dr. Janczak is also a Certified Veterinary Acupuncturist, completing her training with the International Veterinary Acupuncture Society in 2016. Dr. Janczak shares her home with two mischievous cats, Phoebe and Foxtrot, and one lazy retired racing Greyhound, Wyatt Earp. In her free time, she enjoys doing yoga, taking pictures and traveling.

Rebecca McDonald, Hospital Administrator
Rebecca is the Hospital Administrator for Animal Care, Animal Care East and Animal Care Of Greenville. Rebecca enjoys spending her time with her family and traveling. She has 4 beautiful granddaughters named Olivia, Alaina, Morgan, and Taylor, and 2 handsome grandsons named Levi and Dylan. Her normal working hours are Monday – Friday 7 am – 4 pm.

Lynette Harris, Practice Manager
Lynette’s career started with Animal Care in 2004. She graduated ECU with a BS in Sociology. During her spare time she likes to take a long ride on a Harley to the beach where she can enjoy the salty sea air. While at the beach she likes to relax and read. Lynette currently has 2 dogs named Willow and Stella and two cats Chewie & Daisy.
Amanda Stamper, Assistant Practice Manager
Originally from Lumberton, NC, Amanda moved to Greenville in 2003. She has been with the practice since 2006 and has a great passion for taking care of animals. In her spare time she enjoys spending time with her hustband, Mark, and son, Taylor. Amanda currently has dogs and cats.
Jan Barker, Receptionist
Jan has been a receptionist at Animal Care East since 2001. She currently has 6 cats, 2 dogs and 2 ferretts. During her spare time she enjoys spending her days with her husband Jeff.
Amanda Edwards, Receptionist
Amanda started working for Animal Care in 2013. She is the main receptionist at our location on 14th Street, Animal Care of Greenville. In addition to being a receptionist, she also manages our Facebook page. When she’s not at Animal Care, you can find her leading one of her Zumba or BodyPump classes, or spending time with her husband, Tavian, and their daughter and son. She recently graduated from Full Sail University with her B.S. in Entertainment Business Management.
Andrea Figueroa, Receptionist
Andrea joined Animal Care July 2012. She is fluent in Spanish and is here to help assist when needed. Her out going personality and her passion for animals is why Andrea is such a valued employee.
Billie James, Receptionist
Billie has been with Animal Care Veterinary Hospital since FOREVER. Billie has been with us over 20 years and to this day you can find her saying her personal “hello” to many of you. Billie is a receptionist and is here to answer all your questions. A special shout out to Billie for being with us all these years!!
Samantha Riegel, Receptionist
Samantha graduated from Beddingfield High School and went on to join the Army National Guard. After 6 years of service she decided to spend her time raising her daughter Olivia. She likes to work in the graden, listen to music and travel.
Aleks Taylor, Receptionist
Aleks is a receptionist with Animal Care and has been since 2012. She enjoys working alongside her mom, Chris. Together. She is currently in a happy relationship and she loves cheesecake. She enjoys watching Netflix, being artsy, and writing poetry. She doesn’t have children, unless you count the ones with 4 legs and fur. Aleks and her mom have big heart when it comes to animals! They have rescued many cats and now provide a loving home for them! With her sincere love for animals, Aleks makes a great asset to the Animal Care family.
Chris Taylor, Receptionst/Food Coordinator
Chris started her third career with us in March 2006. After ten years in the Army and a seven year stint at a defense law firm, she decided to turn her energy toward her dream of working with animals. She is married and has a daughter, who also works with Animal Care, as well as a son. In the Taylor household, there are a wide array of furr babies who have all found their way to them. In her free time she likes to tend to her garden, read, or watch her favorite television show, which is currently NCIS.

Emily Zerbe, Receptionist
Emily recently was accepted to San Juan College and is planning on taking her Veterinary career even further. Currently you can see Emily at the reception desk, with her colorful hair and her friendly smile.
Karla Martinez: Receptionist
Karla is a friendly receptionist who works at Animal Care Of Greenville. Karla is Bi-lingual and is there to help in a pinch. She always has a friendly smile on her face and is a pleasure to work with.
Tara McNeil: Receptionist
Tara is currently enrolled in ECU. Tara can be found at Animal Care East answering the phone or your questions when you call. Tara enjoys learning new and different things.
Zoe Wooten, Receptionist
Zoe joined Animal Care in 2018 as a receptionist. Zoe made such an impression at us while we were eating lunch that our business card slipped into her hands and we hired her immediately. Zoe’s friendly greeting and beautiful smile can be seen at Animal Care BUT not for long, as she will eventually go join her other team members at Animal Care East, in Winterville.

Crystal James, Registered Veterinary Technician/Head Technician Manager
Crystal joined Animal Care in December of 2008. She earned her degree from San Juan College as a Registered Veterinary Technician. Crystal enjoys spending quality time with her four children. She owns a boxer named Trinity and a Boston Terrier named Pickles.
Karen Hoggard, Registered Veterinary Technician
Karen joined Animal Care in July of 2011. She has recently graduated as a Registered Veterinary Technician. Karen enjoys movies and spending time with her family and friends.
Emilee Heath, Veterinary Assistant
Emilee has been at Animal Care for over 5 years as a technician. Emilee enjoys spending time with her husband Corey and her son Waylon. Emilee also has a passion for driving fast and you may get lucky and see her driving her hot rod on the drag strip one day.
Blair Hopkins, Veterinary Assistant
Blair Hopkins joined Animal Care Veterinary Hospital in January 2013. Blair graduated from Beddingfield High School and is planning to attend San Juan college to earn her R.V.T license.
Heather Norville, Veterinary Assistant
Heather has been with Animal Care since 2001. Heather enjoys spending time with her precious daughters.
Hannah Cooke, Veterinary Assistant
Hannah joined Animal Care Veterinary Hospital in 2016 as part of a “Shadow” program. Hannah did so well her first weeks as a shadow that she was offered a position at Animal Care. Hannah is in college pursuing her career goal as a Veterinarian. Hopefully we will have Hannah as one of our Veterinarians one day. She is currently a technician at Animal Care.
Cody Edwards, Veterinary Technician
Cody came to Animal Care Of Greenville in 2017. Cody can be seen sporting the “sleek and shiny bald head” at 14th street. Cody is extremely respectful and is a fast learner. Cody has a great sense of style and ambition and is a great team player.
Victoria Karnes, Veterinary Assistant
Victoria has been with Animal Care for many years. For a short while Victoria left us but her passion for animals had her coming back home. Victoria enjoys spending time with her husband and children. You can see her at Animal Care as one of our technicians.
Mallory Redman, Veterinary Assistant
Mallory joined Animal Care Veterinary Hospitals in 2017. Mallory is a R.V.T and can be found taking care of your little ones at Animal Care East in Winterville. Mallory is sweet and understanding and is there for you every step of the way.
Faith Becraft, Veterinary Technician
Faith started her career at Animal Care East in Winterville as a technician. Faith is a tiny little spit of fire that will go the extra mile to help out your precious loved ones. Faith is growing with the company rapidly and we hope to see her expand her career.
Kali Hurst, Veterinary Technician
Kali is a newbie and was hired in 2018. Kali is attending San Juan College to become a Registered Veterinary Technician. Kali is currently working at Animal Care Of Greenville but beware folks, we may steal her and bring her to Hwy 33. Kali has a great personality and her dedication and passion for animals is awesome.
Marc Michaud, Veterinary Technician
Marc joined Animal Care in April, 2018. Marc and the hospital Administrator have a bet going on and we look forward to seeing who wins this bet! Marc has experience in Veterinary medicine and we look forward to having him at Animal Care. .

Lee James, Maintenance Supervisor
Lee started working for Animal Care East in December 2009. He loves to go fishing and hanging out with his friends. Lee also is responsible for doing all the maintenance needs at all locations.
Suzanne Cin, Kennel Staff
Suzanne has been with Animal Care East since 2007. Suzanne loves playing with your babies, giving them baths and taking care of them while they are visiting. Suzanne had two sons and enjoys spending time with her family.
Brittany Pittman: In house patient Care
Brittany works at Animal Care off Hwy 33 and is one of our In house patient care providers. Brittany makes sure that your babies are well taken care of and smell fresh when they leave us to go home. Brittany enjoys spending time with her boyfriend and relaxing on her days off.
Tina Mitchell, Groomer
Tina graduated in 1988 from Apple Valley High School. She has been a professional groomer for six years and enjoys spending time with her family and pets. In her spare time she enjoys outdoor activities, swimming and reading.

Lawrence Mattingly, In House Patient Care
Lawrence or “Larry” as he prefers is part of our In house patient care at Animal Care Of Greenville. Larry makes your little ones feel loved and keeps them warm and cozy. Larry is happy spending time with his loved ones and loves to drink coffee.
Kate Domke, Groomer
Kate came from Arizona to help take care of her elderly grandparents while raising her son single handedly. She has been grooming for over 4 years and has loved it ever since she picked up her shears. When she is not working she enjoy’s spending time with her family, making crafts or bows for the pups, reading, or trying out a new recipe.
